2023 Application Form

APPLY FOR THE WAITLIST: As of June 23, the Workshop is full. However, you can still apply for the waitlist. Complete the application form and we’ll be in touch to confirm availability/acceptance and to provide payment options. Please send any questions during this time to Director Amy Willoughby-Burle at amywilloughbyburle@gmail.com.

Each person attending the retreat and/or workshop must fill out an application, even if they are a non-writing attendee.

Note: If you are applying for a scholarship, please do so via the Scholarship page. Do NOT also apply here for a regular Workshop spot (and do not send a deposit). Space will likely be limited by April; if you do not receive a scholarship, contact the Workshop director to inquire about remaining available spots and classes for paying attendees.

The cost of attendance is the same for everyone attending the Retreat and/or Workshop. You will have the opportunity to pay your balance after you submit this application and we’ve confirmed your acceptance.

If you would prefer to print out and mail in an application form, you can download a PDF version of the application: 2023 Application Form

Workshop/Retreat Preferences

  • Retreat is open only to those also registering for the workshop. You cannot attend the retreat only.
  • Only one person per room can be a non-writing attendee. If you attend as a non-writing attendee, you must attend with a writing attendee.
  • If you have attended the workshop before, you do not need to submit a writing sample.

We expect spaces to fill up quickly. In the case that we fill up but later do end up with spaces available for both weeks or for workshop, should we contact you about that option?

Roommate Information

Please note that single rooms are not available at the Workshop this year.
To help us match you with a roommate if you do not bring your own, we ask that you provide as much information about yourself as you feel comfortable sharing in the fields below. Do you smoke? Snore? Are you a day or night person? Anything else that will help us pick just the right person to share your week with, you’re welcome to provide.

Roommate-matching information is required for all attendees, including alumni. We may know you, but we still need to review this information. Please fill out this section unless you already have a roommate.

Payment Options

This section just helps us know what communications to send you regarding payment. Please remember that payment of your deposit is what ultimately holds your spot.

Submit Your Application

First-time applicants only: Send your one-page writing sample to our director at amywilloughbyburle@gmail.com with the subject line “Wildacres First-Year Writing Sample.” Your submission must be in one of these standard file types: pdf, doc, docx, txt, or rtf.

By submitting this application, you agree that you have read all the instructions and understand that if you miss a deadline for submission of a manuscript or a balance due, your application may be cancelled and your spot given to another applicant.
